Booton resurrects village walk tradition

Early in July, Booton resurrected the tradition of organising a village walk around the parish, ending with a barbecue.

Our gathering aimed to welcome everyone in the parish, and by the start of the walk at 6 pm on a warm summer’s evening we had parishioners of all ages and sizes joining the party.

Our leader was Jeremy Buxton, who, along with his mother Rita, had kindly invited us to beat the bounds of the Buxton Farm and inspect the crops and livestock on the way.

Everyone will remember the straggle of walkers chatting away, the children happily stroking the bulls in the barn at Eve’s Hill, and the fine vistas across the fields to Salle and Witchingham.

We ended our walk with the festivities of a barbecue ably overseen by Robert in the Buxton’s garden, where each family contributed their own special dish to the meal.

It was a memorable evening, and everyone agreed how good it was to meet neighbours, talk with their children and enjoy each other’s wonderful food.

Booton may be small and spread out, but the village still appreciates a good get-together.
