Have your say on the well-being of your area

Residents are invited to help improve the health and quality of life of the people of Reepham with Broadland District Council’s Grow Your Community meeting at the Town Hall, Church Street, Reepham, on Thursday 16 April from 1.30 – 4 pm.

The event offers residents a chance to be part of the Grow Your Community project, which aims to support local communities, and to give advice and share knowledge of the area.

The meeting will outline important health issues and intends to gauge what is required for local people to help one another.

The meeting will also look at developing a Community Resilience Plan for Reepham. This is about local residents supporting one another in any kind of emergency, for example, if a power cut hits the area or severe weather strikes.

Members of the community can volunteer to ensure vulnerable residents are managing in such a situation; this may be as simple as helping a neighbour to get their shopping in icy weather. Something which may seem like a small matter to one person could really help another.

At the meeting, local residents will have chance to decide if a Community Resilience Plan would be a helpful asset to Reepham and the Grow Your Community Project will provide the tools to put one together.

In addition, the meeting will look at support for people with mental health conditions, such as anxiety or depression. Many people suffer with mental illness for a long time before seeking help so it is important that there are people within communities who are able to respond to early signs of such problems. There will also be discussion around the Mental Health First Aid training course, which can be offered if residents wish.
