Dial House wins best new food or drink venture in Norfolk Hero awards

The Dial House in Reepham has received a top accolade in the Norfolk Hero Food and Drink Awards 2015.

The award of Best New Food or Drink Venture started in 2013/14 (sponsored by For Farmers) was shared with the King’s Arms Coaching Inn in Swaffham.

The Dial House was praised for its “great enthusiasm, emphasis on local food and developing staff and trainees in-house”.

Established eight years ago by the Aylsham Agricultural Show Association, the Norfolk Hero Food and Drink Awards promote and recognise the county’s heroes in the catering, food, drinks and hospitality sectors.

The judges visited the shortlist of nominated establishments and their teams in June and awarded a total of five winners for four categories this year, saying: “Norfolk has some of the most innovative small businesses in the UK.”

The award for Best Food or Drink Supplier or Producer, promoting local produce (sponsored by Dewing Grain) went to Arthur Howell, a butcher in Wells-next-the-Sea.

The Best Specialist Food or Drink Producer award (sponsored by Gressingham Foods) goes to the Norfolk Brewhouse in Hindringham.

The Anchor Inn in Morston won the award for Best Use of Norfolk Produce on the Menu (sponsored by PIC UK).

Norfolk Hero Food and Drink Awards committee chairman Jacinth Rogers said: “It’s been a very exciting year with many nominations. We have wonderful and quality winners, which are established businesses and also new ones. They have a great offer and also contribute to their community, tourism and economy. A fantastic result all together.”

The overall Championship winner, which is sponsored by Larking Gowen, and the Individual Food or Drink Hero will be presented at the Aylsham Show on Bank Holiday Monday 31 August at Blickling Park, Aylsham.
