Cricketing fundraiser at Salle Hall

What started out as part of a stag weekend in July 2010 has continued as a regular reunion of former Reepham High School & College students and friends with a cricket match in the magnificent setting in front of Salle Hall.

The two teams that competed in a fundraising cricket match at Salle Hall on 15 August

Ahead of his wedding in 2010, Jason Greves invited the group for a game of cricket at Salle, which has since developed into a fun way to raise funds for the children’s play equipment on the playing field in the village.

This year’s game took place on Saturday 15 August when Jason and Clarissa put together a great day that included a bouncy castle, a barbecue, ale from Panther Brewery, cakes and of course two very enthusiastic groups of cricketers.

The match took the form of a limited overs, with each team batting twice – the first innings was 20 overs with each member of the fielding team bowling two overs. The second innings was 25 overs without limitation as to the number of overs a player could bowl.

Under the captaincy of Jeremy Buxton and Matthew Glasspoole a very close game resulted and it was only the tight bowling of Dean Mears that prevented Glen Perfect and Jeremy Buxton from knocking off the 99 runs needed in the final innings.

As much as it was a fun day, it was also financially rewarding with £1,000 raised towards the next phase on the playing field. Well done to all involved.
