Guitarist Mark is ‘over the moon’ with festival prize

Reepham resident Mark Kovacevic said he is “thrilled and absolutely over the moon” with winning the electric guitar signed by The Selecter at this month’s Reepham 15 Summer Music Festival.

Mr Kovacevic, a keen guitarist, said: “I’ve always wanted an Ibanez, but never thought I would own one, so it will definitely be played and not sold on eBay or left lying in a corner collecting dust.”

The guitar, donated by Reepham Life and raffled on the Saturday afternoon of the festival, was presented to Mr Kovacevic’s friend Kev Hickman by Pauline Black, lead singer of the two-tone ska legends, who headlined the event.

The raffle raised around £500 for the group’s chosen charity, the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Now in its eighth year, the annual music festival was another sell-out, the third in a row, with an estimated 2,000 people flocking to the event over the two days.

Festival director Steve Jenkins said: “In terms of the weather and turnout, we were incredibly lucky. People were queuing to get in before we opened the gates and the town has really been involved.”

The opening day saw stages at Rookery Meadow and St Mary’s, while the festival moved to Whitwell Station on the Sunday.
