Late-availability service for holiday cottage owners

A new service from a Reepham-based company offers holiday cottage owners with late availability a new way to fill in the gaps.

BimbleBox provides an online gateway to selling any unsold availability within 12 weeks of occupancy, especially during the “shoulder seasons” when bookings are traditionally low.

Consumers have the opportunity to make a reasonable “offer” for any cottage. If the offer meets or exceeds the hidden reserve price, which is known and controlled only by the owner, the website completes the booking automatically.

Since the service was launched, BimbleBox has undertaken extensive market research and testing with a handful of founder owners. The company also works closely with Visit Norfolk, as well as other local organisations, such as Broadland District Council and Visit North Norfolk.

There are no upfront charges for owners – just a 10% commission (plus VAT) when a booking is taken. All Bimblebox asks is that owners provide a discount of at least 10% off the full standard price.

Co-founder Diane Pearce (above) said: “Every holidaymaker wants the best price, without compromising on quality. And a lot of cottage owners have to fill last-minute dates, without taking a pittance. So, Bimblebox is the middle ground, where everyone gets a fair deal.”
