Free park-and-stride service opens in Reepham

With resurfacing of the main Stimpson’s Piece car park now completed, shoppers and visitors to Reepham are being encouraged to leave their vehicle at the recreation ground off Bartle Court and walk into the town centre.

This will take approximately five minutes at a normal walking pace (we’ve timed it).

Some visitors have complained that on weekdays the free Station Road car park is usually overflowing by 9–10 am (resident’s vehicles and town centre workers?) and that a 90-minute limit applies to cars parked in the Market Place from 8 am – 6 pm.

One solution being suggested is to park at Stimpson’s Piece where a five-minute walk (10 minutes both ways) could prevent an early death.

Six million middle-aged adults in England (that’s four in ten) fail to do even one brisk 10-minute walk a month – and are missing out on important health benefits.

According to Public Health England, one brisk walk a day is enough to cut the risk of early death by as much as 15%.
