Norfolk charity Equal Lives needs help in your area

Could you help people in custody? Could you be an Appropriate Adult?

Appropriate Adults are volunteers who help juveniles and vulnerable adults while they are in police custody. You’ll need to be a good listener with excellent interpersonal skills, so that you can establish rapport quickly with a variety of people. You’ll need to be assertive and advocate on behalf of others.

We are looking for people living in Aylsham and the surrounding areas that could become Appropriate Adults. This is a great opportunity to learn something new, develop new skills, support vulnerable adults and generally do something perhaps a little different than what you might normally do with your spare time.

You would require a car, although expenses of 45p per mile are paid to cover petrol costs and we ideally would like people to commit to one shift per week of around five hours or one weekend per month. Full training is provided and a gateway level 2 qualification is available.

Equal Lives Appropriate Adults service supported 1,388 adults and 1,099 juveniles during 2016-2017 and it is important that we continue to offer our support for people who need it, so if you can help us then please do get in touch.
