Lions Club formed in Reepham

A branch of an international non-political service organisation has been set up in Reepham.

Reepham Lions Club’s formation was instigated by Barry Howes, a founder member of Reepham and District Rotary Club, and Andrew Hadley, who was also a member of the Rotary Club for several years.

Both decided that Reepham and the surrounding district would benefit from having a second, alternative service club to help meet the needs of the local community.

Lions seemed an obvious choice, being the world’s largest service club organisation, and the principle of being open to both men and women held a particular appeal – several founder members of the club in Reepham are couples.

The Lions Club comprises local people who want to make a positive impact through projects that involve fundraising in support of good causes, identified locally, organising community activities and having fun helping others.

The group meets at 7.30 pm on the first Tuesday of the month, except for public holidays, at the King’s Arms, Market Place, Reepham.

The club thanks its Guiding Lion, Ujjal Kular, and Taverham & District Lions Club, which sponsored its formation, and its representative, Bob Boothroyd.
