Reepham Lions start with a roar

The first fundraising effort for the newly formed Reepham Lions Club was a raffle at last month’s Classic Car and Bike Festival (pictured), which raised more than £1,500, half of which, after expenses, went to the winning ticketholder, Dan Evans of Norwich.

At its meeting on 2 October, club members agreed to donate £200 to Reepham Nursery School for the purchase of IT equipment, and £100 to Reepham-based charity Mini-Scrapbox, which offers affordable art and craft resources, mostly reclaimed from Norfolk businesses, for the purchase of a new roller and tray for its ageing die-cutting machine.

The next meeting will be on Saturday 10 November, when members will host their first charter night at Whitwell Station and will be joined by friends and representatives from other Lions groups.

At the December meeting on Tuesday 4 December, Reepham Lions member Simon Chipperfield has arranged for all members to look round the All Day Brewing Company at Salle Moor Farm followed by food and drink.

The next fundraising effort will be the sale of raffle tickets at the Festival of Light on Thursday 6 December outside the King’s Arms.

The first club meeting of 2019 will be held on Tuesday 8 January at Reepham Methodist Church, StationRoad, Reepham (no meeting on the first Tuesday as 1 January is a bank holiday).

Future meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of the month at this new venue. (Reepham Lions thank Mark Armitage and Lynette Tilley of the King’s Arms for providing a venue for the first meetings.)
