Tales of Cawston’s past reprinted by historical society

Cawston Historical Society has reprinted an unusual local history book written by John Kett, who was headmaster of Cawston primary school for 26 years until his retirement in 1978.

First published in 1980, copies of Yesterday’s Children have not been easy to obtain in recent years, being seen on Ebay for well over £12.

Cawston Historical Society obtained permission from the Kett family for reprinting the book, which is now on sale for £3.50 (£4.75 including postage and packaging). All profits from the book’s sale go to funds for Cawston Village Hall.

Yesterday’s Children can be obtained from: Cawston Post Office & Stores, 2 Fairfields, Cawston, All Things Nice, 9 High Street, Cawston; Paul Handley, village hall chairman 01603 871370; Andrew Welton, village hall caretaker 01603 879464; the social club at the village hall; or Des Cook 01603 872111.
