High school wins grant to replace ageing windows and doors

Reepham High School & College (RHSC) has been awarded more than £800,000 to replace the 55-year-old windows, doors and blinds in the original school buildings.

These will be replaced with modern installations that are known to enhance academic attainment while reducing energy consumption.

RHSC became an academy in October 2012, which made the school eligible to apply for a capital grant from the Department for Education.

Principal Mark Farrar said work has already started in planning the installation of the new windows and doors, and all the work is planned to be completed by September, ready for the new academic year.

RHSC business manager Peter Collins, who has been instrumental in securing the grant, added: “We hope this is the first part of a planned four-phase programme which will see the old school improved and refurbished so that it is at least as good if not better than our sixth form building and provide an outstanding environment for our pupils to study.”
