The Reepham Society presents Runton Rock: great bands at the West Runton and Cromer pavilions

From the dance bands of the 50s, through soul, disco and glam rock, to the punk and heavy metal of the early ‘80s, the best music acts of the time topped the bill at the legendary venues of West Runton Pavilion and Cromer Royal Links Pavilion.  These included, Chuck Berry, T Rex, Roy Harper, Suzi Quatro, Adam and the Ants, Motorhead, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Sex Pistols, and the Cure.

Julie Fielder’s father worked at West Runton Pavilion during the 1970s, and before she was thirteen Julie had watched some of the top bands from a private balcony at the back of the hall, met some of the stars and had developed love of music. Both venues are long gone, but in 2005 Julie began extensive research to record the memories and uncover the facts around them. The resulting book ‘WHAT FLO SAID’ was launched in 2006.

On 11 November at 7.30 pm in Reepham Town Hall, Julie will give an illustrated talk on what it was like to be growing up as a part of that world of rock and entertainment.

Entrance free to Reepham Society members, non-members £2 on the door. Please note the change of venue to Reepham Town Hall.
