HSBC to close Reepham branch in October

HSBC bank is to close its branch in Market Place, Reepham, at the close of business (3 pm) on Friday 9 October.

Customers were sent a letter on 14 July signed by retail branch manager Ed Taylor informing of the “difficult decision” and stating that all accounts will be transferred to the London Street, Norwich, branch.

The nearest branch and HSBC cash machine will be in Market Place, Dereham, with another on Mile Cross Lane, Norwich.

While offering apologies for any inconvenience caused in the branch closure, which he said was partly due to the growth of telephone and online banking in recent years, Mr Taylor pointed out that HSBC customers can use the Post Office in Reepham to pay in cash or cheques, withdraw money and check balances.

However, it is understood that these over-the-counter post office services will only be available for personal account holders – business customers will have to use the HSBC branches in Norwich, Dereham or elsewhere.
