Old Brewery Lane residents want street name to remain

Residents of Old Brewery Lane in Reepham have asked Broadland District Council not to change the name of their street.

The Council had proposed to rename the two sections of Old Brewery Lane, which is divided by a pedestrianised walkway with no vehicular access between the two discrete parts, into “Old Brewery Lane East” and “Old Brewery Lane West”.

This would be especially important in case of an emergency, explained a Council spokesperson.

Residents were notified by letter and Broadland welcomed other suggestions for renaming the road.

However, residents say they are concerned about the cost implications of changing the name of the street. It is understood they submitted a petition for the Council to take no further action.
