Rotary art show and work on Japanese garden

Reepham & District Rotary Club is helping with the new garden planned by Reepham Primary School to reinforce its links with a school in Japan.

Left to right: George Forster, Roy Sherlock, Manesty Forster, John Pickering, Cliff Harmer and Karen Phelps help prepare the Japanese garden at Reepham Primary School

As a first step, members worked through the last weekend of the school summer holiday to get the base materials laid down before the children returned.

Master builder Cliff Harmer and his team of useful supporters ensured all was ready for the school to make a start on the next phase of the project.

Earlier, the Rotary Club raised substantial sums for its charities by holding an art exhibition at the Aylsham Show on the Bank Holiday weekend in August.

Over two days members and their families erected the art show, hung the pictures, manned the doors, sold raffle tickets, and provided delicious teas and cakes.

Charities currently supported by Reepham & District Rotary Club include the Benjamin Foundation, Norwich and Central Norfolk MIND’s Support Line, and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide.

Meanwhile, planning continues for next year’s Reepham Food Festival to be held on 27 May 2018. A public meeting will be held in November to show plans and seek more support from the town.
