New bicycle workshop offers fast, affordable service

Business is steadily growing for a new bicycle workshop in Reepham.

Reepham Cycle Workshop is based at the old railway station at Kerri’s Farmhouse Pine and Tearooms, Station Road, Reepham.

The newly established business opened in June, offering a wide range of repairs and servicing, as well as new and second-hand bikes.

Proprietor Simon Worley (pictured) has spent 16 years in the bicycle maintenance business. He was previously workshop manager at Pedal Revolution in Norwich for 13 years, having earlier worked for Halfords.

Having decided it was time to move on and set up his own business, Cytech-trained Mr Worley spent a year as a mobile cycle mechanic until he found suitable premises.

The workshop, the former carpentry shed of the station, is adjacent to the Marriott’s Way and well positioned to cater for a range of cyclists, from serious road racers to families and the occasional enthusiast.

“Good cycle mechanics are few and far between these days and some of the larger bike shops no longer have the experienced staff,” said Mr Worley, who lives in Norwich.

“I now have regular customers from as far away as Norwich, Holt and Aylsham who need anything from inner tube changing or a brake repair to a complete overhaul,” he said, adding that there is currently a lot of interest in refurbishing older and vintage bikes.

Reepham Cycle Workshop can also undertake suspension servicing – possibly the only independent workshop in East Anglia offering this – and wheel building, as well as stocking a range of spare parts.
