New bus service from Holt to Norwich via Reepham

Sanders Coaches will start a new bus service 42 on Monday 3 February, covering Holt, Edgefield, Corpusty, Cawston, Reepham, Booton, Swannington, Felthorpe, Horsford and into Norwich.

Director Charles Sanders explained that this is a new service and not a direct replacement for Eastons withdrawn service 25.

“We are not taking over Eastons existing service and, therefore, any pre-bought tickets i.e. 10 trip or season tickets bought directly from Eastons, should be returned for a refund as they will not be valid on our service," he said.

“We have made arrangements with Norfolk County Council to honour existing council-issued season tickets and they will be accepted on service 42, even though they say ES or ES25 on them.

“Our normal pricing policies will apply to this service, so child discounts and 16-19 Inbetweener tickets will be available all day including the peak journey times.

“We actively encourage you to take advantage of the further reductions available with our value for money weekly tickets that will allow you to travel as often as you like Monday to Saturday. They can be bought any day and are valid for the next seven days.

“By changing at The Firs (Tesco) you can join our express service X44 for Cromer and Sheringham.

“Fare payers should buy a daily explorer ticket, which will give unlimited travel all day on any of our services. You can then hop about as many times as you like between Sheringham and Cromer or Mundesley, etc. on the same ticket all day long, making sure, of course, you get back to The Firs in time for the last 42 service home.”

Reepham and Cawston passengers can use the 43 service to Aylsham and also get connections to the coast, said Mr Sanders.

The No. 42 route is Holt - Corpusty - Cawston - Reepham - Booton - Swannington - Swannington Upgate - Felthorpe - Horsford - The Firs - Aylsham Road to Anglia Square and Norwich city centre. All journeys will go the same way six days a week.

Sanders pointed out that this route will not be serving other places on the existing Eastons 25 service. However, Swannington, for example, will see a significant increase in the service from two days a week to six.

The company warned that only peak journeys operate from and to Holt; off-peak journeys start at Reepham. Cawston passengers will need to use service 43 off peak to Norwich via Aylsham.

Robert Easton of Eastons Holidays explained that service 25 would officially finish on Friday 31 January, but would still operate on Saturday 1 February ahead of the new Sanders service commencing on Monday 3 February.

He added that Eastons had decided to withdraw the route to concentrate on its holidays, excursions and private coach hire business.
