Town Council ignored views of residents

The report of the Town Council meeting earlier this month seems to be biased towards the views of the four councillors who were present at the meeting (see Town Council supports old station yard proposals).

There was only a handful of residents/carers who supported the development as planned, although it is true there was support for a smaller-scale development, as it was questioned whether there was a local demand for such a large development and indeed if the average elderly Reepham resident could afford such a form of accommodation.

In deciding to support the proposed development without expressing any reservations, [the town councillors] completely ignored the views of the many Reepham residents who were present.

I would question how only four councillors can make decisions that may affect the residents of Reepham.

Talking with other residents since, it has been questioned as to whether only four is quorate.

With such a small number of councillors – some of whom are not even elected by residents – there needs to be some changes made such that they are required to consult and take note of the views of residents before making any significant decisions.
