New Friends of Stimpson’s Piece Group planned

At the Reepham Town Council meeting on Wednesday 12 November, it was reported that Sam James has resigned as a councillor. Thanks were given to her for the hard work and energy she has put into the council and Stimpson’s Piece charity. Louisa Dreisin was co-opted onto the council.

A draft budget was circulated and will be approved, along with the precept, at the December town council meeting. A quote was accepted to resurface the entranceway to Stimpson’s Piece car park.

Lynette and Mark Armitage from the King’s Arms have generously taken on the organisation of the Christmas in Reepham event, to be held on Saturday 6 December. A grant application was received to cover first aid staffing and a road closure; the town council has agreed to pay for some new lights for the main Christmas tree. It was also agreed to donate money to the Young Farmers to decorate some tractors for a competition.

It was noted that the Broomhill Lane planning application for a housing development of 141 houses was approved by Broadland District Council’s Planning Committee. It was disappointing that more notice was not given for this meeting, as there are only two councillors remaining on the town council from when the application was last discussed.

The YMCA Youth Outreach survey was received, but without enough notice for councillors to fully review it. It will be discussed at the town council meeting in January.

There are a number of vacant allotments on all three sites in the town. If you are interested in taking on a plot, please contact the clerk for further information.

Reepham Robins are looking to set up a new Friends of Stimpson’s Piece Group and will contact all regular groups who use the hall. The possibility of converting one of the changing rooms to publicly accessible toilets was discussed and will be explored further. Quotes will be obtained to replace the fence around the back of the hall and to clear vegetation from the floodlight.

The skatepark consultation report has been sent but was only received by trustees on the day of the meeting. Broadland District Council’s Planning Department will be contacted to see if planning permission will be required.

Reepham Tennis Club has asked for the Kerdiston Road car park to be lit. The pros and cons of this were discussed, along with the need for the club to pay for the electricity. It will investigate and then contact the trustees of Stimpson’s Piece.
