After more than two years of painstaking work, Reepham Community Press has launched a redesigned community website, breathing new life into the town’s online news service.
The project began with a daunting challenge: rescuing thousands of posts from an outdated platform that had become increasingly difficult to manage and alter. What emerged is a streamlined, modern site that places local news and information at its heart, ensuring the Reepham district’s stories remain accessible today and for years to come.
At the centre of this transformation is Jeremy Brockman, the site’s long-serving webmaster, whose tireless efforts have preserved a digital archive of community life dating back to December 2012. From town council meetings and school events to cultural highlights and local campaigns, these posts chart the unfolding story of the Reepham district over more than a decade.
Mr Brockman was not alone in the task. He was ably supported by IT specialist Charles Butcher, whose technical expertise helped to migrate and reformat the content into a more efficient, easy-to-manage system, with the help of chief content editor Geoff Fisher. Together, they have safeguarded Reepham’s online heritage while laying the foundations for future growth.
The new site is not just about the past. Plans are already underway to expand its features in the coming months, offering readers more opportunities to engage with local news, events and initiatives.
Businesses and community groups are encouraged to contribute by sending in news stories, photographs and comments, as well as listings for free or non-profit events. All submissions will be moderated before publication, ensuring the site remains a trusted source of information. And do let us know if you spot any glitches in some of the historical content.
For Mr Brockman, the relaunch is both a technical achievement and a labour of love. “It’s about keeping Reepham connected,” he said. “The local community deserves a reliable, accessible platform where local voices can be heard and local history preserved.
“This was a real team effort with all of us bringing unique skills from our professional lives to make Reepham Life a reality.
“Over the period of the website’s life we have recorded a lot of what make Reepham such a vibrant community. The site’s refresh was long overdue and now puts it on strong foundations for the coming years.”
