Salle church concert raises fund for Rotary charities

Reepham & District Rotary Club raised £3,000 to distribute to charities as a result of a choral concert at Salle Church on 13 July.

The concert featured the popular Tarantara Choir from the West Midlands, which entertained a packed church with a wide range of music, both familiar and less well known.

The choir donated their services so the charities could benefit to the full amount. The Rotary club would like to thank the choir, visitors and all who helped to make the event such a success.

As well as Rotary charities, the event has enabled donations to the North Norfolk Chorale, Salle Pavilion and Salle Church.

The concert was held two weeks after the Rotary club’s golf tournament at the Royal Norwich Golf Club, which also raised just over £3,000.

The new Rotary charity for 2019/20 is the “Tiger Test” for prostate cancer at the University of East Anglia, so that treatment resources can be better directed. The university is developing a test for the most dangerous tumours, which are one of the main killers of men.

Other local charities supported this year are Eating Matters and the Benjamin Foundation. The club also provides practical and financial support to many initiatives specifically devoted to Reepham. For example, it will be supporting Reepham schools and the Synergy Multi-Academy Trust.

Reepham Rotary Club will again be running the art exhibition at the Aylsham Show on Monday 26 August (August bank holiday). This annual event has also become a major source of charitable funds for the region.
