According to a report in the Eastern Daily Press, car parking provisions in the Broadland district are to be reviewed, as the council updates the service it provides.

As a result, free parking could end in the off-street, council-run car parks across the Broadland district, including Reepham.

Other changes could see Broadland expand its electric vehicle charging point network.

The newspaper said a district council report has revealed that charges for the car parks could be coming “sooner rather than later”.

The council’s economic success panel is due to discuss the report on Monday 19 August.

To reduce the high level of space blocking that exists in some car parks, council officers are understood to be considering a range of options, including pay-and-display parking, free parking but with maximum stays, and charging but allowing one free hour.

Broadland District Council’s website notes that no overnight parking is allowed in any of the eight council-run car parks across the district.

The Reepham Town Team is currently promoting use of 58-space Station Road car park for short-stay parking, with long-stay parking available at Stimpson’s Piece, Bartle Court, off Station Road, just a five-minute walk from the town centre.
