Visitors to Reepham’s Sunshine Café have a new game to enjoy.
Boccia involves accurate throwing of soft bags to improve hand/eye co-ordination, providing useful exercise and allowing anyone to realise their competitive streak. It has been adopted as an official Paralympic sport.
The new game was donated by Reepham Lions Club and proved popular on its first outing at the Sunshine Café meeting on Thursday 28 April to go with seated Pilates and more sedentary games.
The café, for those living with memory loss and their carers, is a Reepham & District Rotary Club project with the support of others in the community, and has steadily gained membership since it was launched last year.
Meetings are held from 10 am to 12 noon at St Michael’s Reepham on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.
The café offers a warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere with music, games and entertainment, together with tea, coffee and biscuits and the chance to chat with others.
There is no membership, regular fees or any obligation to visit. Anyone with a need can turn up on the day and be assured of a warm welcome, with drinks and refreshments kindly provided by the Co-op and volunteers.
