No more plastic bottle tops for Bircham Centre

After six years the Matthew Project has discontinued its Plastic4Charity scheme and Reepham district residents are asked not to donate any more plastic bottle tops to the Bircham Centre as these will no longer be collected.

Plastic4Charity has been one of the charity’s most successful fundraising schemes and has been instrumental in helping to raise money and awareness of its work. It has helped recycle 140 tonnes of plastics and raised more than £7,000.

However, the Matthew Project ended the Plastic4Charity scheme at the end of January owing to a decrease in the price of plastics.

In light of the latest Chinese ban on plastic waste imports from the UK, the charity has been notified that its contractors will no longer be processing any bottle tops. These can now be recycled in household recycling bins.
