‘Sad day’ as summer music festival cancelled

Despite their best efforts and months of planning, the organisers of the Reepham Festival, the town’s annual summer music festival, have decided to cancel this year’s event, which was due to take place on the weekend of 7–8 August.

A spokesperson said: “The recent government update shows signs of hope that restrictions may be lifted.

“However, without a guarantee in place and due to the enormous amount of time it takes to organise the event, we feel that, unfortunately, the festival cannot take place in 2021.

“It’s a sad day for us as the organisers, but nothing is more important than ensuring everyone stays safe.”

As well as being a weekend of music, the festival is a not-for-profit event, run by volunteers and supported by local sponsors, which over the years has raised more than £40,000 for local charities.

The festival team are already planning for 2022. Tickets purchased for the 2020 event, which was also cancelled due to the pandemic, will still be valid for 2022. Any questions regarding tickets can be sent by email to info@reephamfestival.com

The organisers said they are also considering whether to again hold a virtual event this year.
