New town councillors

Two new councillors have been co-opted onto Reepham Town Council.

Joan Schulz of Sparham works as a lecturer in mental health at the University of East Anglia. With a background in nursing both adult and mental health clients, she is also a qualified therapist.

Moving to Norfolk 19 years ago to take up a lecturing post, Mrs Schulz brought her two sons with her; they are now both married and she has four grandchildren.

“I live just outside Reepham and love the warmth and friendliness I have experienced from the local people,” she said. “It is a beautiful part of the county.

“As a Councillor I wish to represent the thoughts and feelings of the local community and to work alongside them. I hope we can retain all that is good about Reepham.”

Married with two sons, Gary Saunders moved to Reepham five years ago from York. He has been a teacher for the past 13 years, and currently works as director of learning at Alderman Peel High School in Wells-next-the-Sea.

A keen motorsports fan, he is also an avid supporter of his hometown football team, Hull City. He has recently taken up boating on the North Norfolk coast and enjoys cycling with his family along the Marriott’s Way, as well as walking his two dogs in and around Reepham.

“I joined the Council because I believe Reepham is one of the best places to live,” said Mr Saunders. “I want to help maintain this fantastic market town and enhance what we already have.”
