Reepham Lions has recently been able to extend the equipment range of Aylsham Community Gym (ACG) by donating money to purchase resistance bands, which are now being used by members in various classes as well as individually.
Just prior to the first Covid lockdown in March last year, ACG moved from the Drill Hall across the road to the County Building, next to the fire station, in Cawston Road, Aylsham.
ACG prides itself in being “The Friendly Gym”, where members of the local community aged 13 years upwards can improve and/or maintain their fitness as well as meet others in a positive environment.
The gym boasts a team of three fully qualified instructors as well as a wide range of equipment, including cross trainers, treadmills and exercise bikes.
The past 18 months have been challenging for us all, both mentally and physically, and ACG provides the opportunity to get back into the routine of maintaining our fitness levels or improving them.
The instructors are there to help and will devise bespoke training plans, support local GP surgeries with exercise referral schemes and support specialist needs such as physiotherapy.

With clubs and charities starting to open again, funds may be limited. If you know of any local organisations that would benefit from funding from Reepham Lions, please contact Liz Howes by email.
Meanwhile, thanks for your donations of spectacles and hearing aids – our latest batch has now been sorted and despatched to Chichester Lions Club.
To boost our depleted funds, Reepham Lions Club is holding a summer raffle. Tickets will be sold before the draw, which will take place at the Kings Arms on Sunday 22 August as part of the Reepham Food Festival.
Reepham Lions continues to work with the local community, and we shall be resuming our monthly face-to-face meetings on Thursday 5 August (we have been holding Zoom meetings and quizzes during lockdown).
The club meetings take place on the first Thursday of the month in St Michael’s. Members begin to arrive just after 7 pm for a cuppa and a catch up before the meeting starts at 7.30 pm.
We are a friendly lot, so please come along to meet us, hear about the club and what our plans are for the future.
There is absolutely no commitment on your part: look upon it as “putting your toe in the water”. Hope to see you then.
