Visit Reepham this Christmas and support local retailers

Broadland District Council has launched a campaign to encourage people to shop local this Christmas.

Throughout December the council will be promoting independent shops and the huge array of products on offer across the district’s market towns and retail outlets on its social media channels.

Broadland’s portfolio holder for economic development Cllr Jo Copplestone said: “There are so many local independent shops that sell all the things you need to have a fantastic Christmas right on your doorstep.

“This campaign highlights some of the brilliant products available locally that make lovely gifts for friends and family and encourages people to support their local retailers.

“When you shop local, you also get all the expert advice and customer care that you can expect from someone who is passionate about their small business.

“So please don’t line the pockets of huge online corporations this year, support your local shopkeepers that employ local people, and help Broadland’s economy to thrive.”

The campaign will focus on some of the district’s key retail areas, including Heydon, Reepham, Aylsham, Coltishall, Thorpe, Harleston, Loddon, Wymondham and Diss.

The council is also asking residents to support their favourite places to buy Christmas gifts by posting a photo of the shop on social media using the hashtags #LoveLocalXmasBroadland or #LoveLocalXmasSouthNorfolk to inspire others.

The campaign has been made possible with funding from the Reopening High Street Safely Fund and forms part of the wider support the government is providing to communities and businesses.
