By Jerome Mayhew MP
Following extensive lobbying in Parliament, I am delighted to have secured the £231 million for the Norwich Western Link Road. This funding will pave the way for our new link road and deliver this crucial priority for Broadland residents once and for all.
The next stage of the delivery will involve planning applications and, as part of this, I wrote to the leader of Broadland District Council to ask that she confirm that the council is still fully committed to the road given there are now cabinet members at the council openly campaigning against the road.
Meeting with Broadland District Council
I met with the managing director of Broadland District Council to raise local casework and hold the council to account on its work delivering for residents in Broadland.
Whether it’s planning, housing or supporting our communities, the council has a vital role to play in ensuring things in Broadland are working and I’ll continue to work closely with the local authority as we make Broadland an even better place to live.
My dental survey – last chance to respond
Thank you to all those who have taken part in my dental survey to highlight your experiences of NHS dentistry in Broadland and Fakenham. I have been campaigning for extra NHS dentists and succeeded in getting a new dental contract offered for Fakenham, as well as thousands more hours of NHS appointments across Broadland, but there is much more to be done.
I will feed back your views to the Integrated Care Board for Norfolk and Waveney as part of my continued campaign to improve access to NHS dental treatment.
In the medium term, I have been campaigning in Parliament to secure an NHS dental training school at the University of East Anglia so that we can “train and retain” local talent in Norfolk and for Norfolk.
Ahead of my meeting with the Integrated Care Board, I’ll shortly be closing this survey and collating the responses. If you’ve not yet completed it, please do let me know your views.
