Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to provide cover during the day to help keep the fire station available.
Reepham’s firefighters attend a wide range of incidents in the surrounding area, including fires, floods, road traffic accidents and chemical spills.
Apart from a few hours a week for training sessions, on-call firefighters only attend the fire station when they have received an emergency callout.
All the current firefighters at Reepham have other occupations, but when the call comes they drop whatever we are doing and become part of a team.
Depending on the type of cover given, an on-call firefighter may respond from home and/or work, day and/or night, but must be within five minutes of the station when on call.
Reepham Fire Station’s drill night is on Tuesday evenings. If you are interested in finding out more, please come to the station in School Road, Reepham, from 7–9 pm any Tuesday to ask questions and see what local firefighters do.
