Reepham Good Neighbours receive cash boost

At its first meeting of 2019, Reepham Lions agreed to donate £300 to Reepham Good Neighbour Scheme (RGNS).

This small but structured group of volunteers offer to do simple tasks for those most in need, as well as supporting mainly older people, people with disabilities or those who have little or limited social contact and who potentially find themselves isolated within the community.

RGNS also has an allotment that is tended by the volunteers with the help of some of the people the scheme supports.

Meanwhile, Reepham Lions Christmas Raffle raised £2,152 and the winners were: 1st prize – six bottles of André Carpentier champagne: Mrs Tomer, Aylsham; 2nd prize – £50 voucher for the King's Arms, Reepham: Sue, Aylsham; 3rd prize – a bottle each of scotch, gin and vodka: Mr Neal, Reepham; 4th prize – one year’s entry to Eves Hill Veg Co 100 Club, and 5th prize – a 10-year-old bottle of port in a presentation box: Mr Farrell, Oulton Street.

Lions club members are looking forward to a busy year. Various fundraising events are planned, as well as social evenings and involvement in local events such as celebrations for the centenary of the Bircham Centre and the Reepham Classic Car and Bike Festival in September.
