String concert in aid of Wood Dalling church

An enjoyable and well-received string quartet concert was held at St Andrew’s Wood Dalling on Sunday 28 October.

Three arrangements were performed E. J. Moeran’s E Flat String Quartet; three pieces by Frank Bridge (he is remembered for teaching Benjamin Britten who later championed his music); and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Dissonance, the last of a set of six string quartets dedicated to Austrian composer Joseph Haydn.

The quartet performing at Wood Dalling church comprised Willemijn Slijboom, first violin, who studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and is a member of the Academy of St Thomas; Deborah Harris, second violin, principal of the North London Conservatoire; Zybs Kaznowski, viola, who has played with the Academy of St Thomas for more than 20 years; Michael Price, cello, who has played with the Academy of St Thomas for the past 15 years.

All money raised from the concert will go towards the church improvement fund.
