More than 80 people enjoyed a birthday party with cake and fizz at the Hall For All in Weston Longville.

The hall, which serves the villages of Weston Longville, Attlebridge and Morton on the Hill, opened 10 years ago after a major fundraising effort by the villagers and a grant from the Veolia Environmental Trust.

A total of more than £400,000 was raised, which led to the building of the hall plus a play area.

The celebratory party saw a performance by gypsy swing band The Djangoliers and an introduction by Ruth Goodall, chair of the hall’s management committee, who thanked everyone for the support they had given the hall and spoke of the important role village halls and volunteers have in building strong communities.

There was lots of reminiscing, a delicious birthday raspberry cake made by trustee Julie Cowley and plenty of fizz to enjoy.

The hall is available for hire for groups, weddings, parties and more.
