New childminding service starts up in Reepham

Being made redundant in April gave Emma Thompson of Reepham the opportunity to start her own business.

“At 44 I thought it was about time I did something that was truly rewarding,” she said. “My ambition became a reality in September when OFSTED granted my registration for my childminding business.

Mrs Thompson is mother to Charlie, a vibrant 9-year-old, and they love having a house full of young people.

She can care for children from 6 months to 10 years old, and will consider as few or as many hours as parents need. Her home on Cawston Road has a newly refurbished playroom and an enclosed rear garden and is within walking distance of Reepham’s nursery and primary schools.

“We play outside as much as possible and make visits to the Library, but when indoors I have a large range of games, puzzles and art materials,” said Mrs Thompson.

“I also volunteer for Homestart in Norwich, which supports families with young children, and this gives me huge satisfaction. I know what a huge decision it is to use a childminder, so I welcome visits from parents to answer any questions. I truly love what I do.”
