Businesses and groups invited to take part in Christmas tree festival

Reepham Lions are planning to start off the festive season in the town with tinsel, sparkle and baubles with another Christmas tree festival, to be held in St Mary’s from Wednesday 29 November to Sunday 3 December.

The church will again be filled with more than 20 Christmas trees, sponsored and decorated by local businesses, individuals and groups.

Sponsors pay £40 for their tree, stand and battery-powered lights and are invited to be as inventive as possible with their decorations.

Last year’s tree decorations featured rubber ducks, poppies and beer bottle caps, as well as the more traditional paper chains, stars and angels.

Many of those who sponsored trees in last year’s festival have agreed to do so again this year, with a number of new sponsors already expressing an interest in coming on board.

Sponsorship is on a first-come, first-served basis and any potential sponsors are invited to contact the Lions by email to reserve a tree or get on the waiting list.

Entry to the third Christmas tree festival will again be free of charge, but Reepham Lions hope that visitors will be generous with their donations, with any proceeds shared equally between Reepham Lions and St Mary’s.

The festival will be open from 10 am to 4.30 pm from Wednesday 29 November to Saturday 2 December, and from 11.30 am to 5.30 pm on Sunday 3 December, which is the day of Reepham’s Festival of Light.
