QEH, Western link and photo ID

By Jerome Mayhew MP

Since being elected, a key local priority has been to secure the Queen Elizabeth Hospital rebuild.

Our manifesto in 2019 promised to deliver 40 new hospitals across the country and local MPs have been making the case for the QEH to be included in this since day one.

With an announcement hopefully imminent, I asked the Prime Minister directly whether he will give our campaign his support and make sure the QEH gets the rebuild that residents across Broadland deserve.

Annual jobs fair

While I welcome the news that unemployment is down in Broadland, and substantially below the national average, there are still around 1,130 claimants in Broadland.

Some of these claimants will already be in work, but now is the time when jobs are plentiful to go the extra mile to help people off benefits and into work.

I will be hosting another Jobs Fair to help local residents and school leavers to find their next career.

If you’d like to come along, we’ll be open at Taverham High School on Friday 10 March from 11 am until 3 pm for students at the school, and from 3 pm until 5 pm for local residents. We’ve got some fantastic local employers coming along to talk about some of their exciting opportunities.

If you’d like an invite to host a free stall, please do email me directly.

Missing link road

I was pleased to meet Norfolk County Council’s Western Link Team: the missing link road is one of issues most frequently raised with me.

It is vital that we build this road to stop the terrible rat-running that villages currently endure, reduce traffic emissions, improve access to markets for swathes of Norfolk businesses and knock 20 minutes off ambulance response times to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

Photo ID for local elections

Local elections for Broadland District Council and North Norfolk District Council are fast approaching.

With photo ID now required to vote in UK elections, it’s the right time to ensure you’ve got everything you need to vote on Thursday 4 May.

If you don’t have photo ID, there are options:

If you’ve got an issue that I can support, please do get in touch by email and I’ll do my best to help.

Alternatively, please do contact my office if you’d like to arrange a meeting at one of my regular surgeries.
