Hardship grants help nearly 50 families in Reepham

Nearly 50 families in Reepham struggling with the cost of living crisis have received help in recent months from a local church-based charity.

Town Lands and Neale’s Charity, part of Reepham Church Charities (charity no. 213557), was set up to assist people living in Reepham suffering financial hardship.
In previous years, local residents had been reticent about asking for financial help: at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, when grants were offered to help with sudden loss of earnings, only eight payments were made.

This meant the charity had enough reserves to help those struggling with the current cost of living crisis, which has hit many people hard; grants being given to 17 families before Christmas and 32 families in the New Year.

The money held is now at a low level and further small payments will not be possible until the rents come in from land held at Stony Lane, say the charity’s trustees.
