Restrictions on charity shop donations

The Bircham Centre Charity Shop has placed some restrictions on what items it can accept as donations.

To conform with health and safety regulations, and for the safety of the volunteers who run the shop, the Bircham Centre is now unable to take the following items: cycle helmets or helmets of any type; cots and prams; walking frames; highchairs; car seats; electrical goods; videos; encyclopaedias; magazines; and artificial Christmas trees.

The Centre has limited storage space, and items that are not sold quickly block the space available. Further, electrical items and those that have safety implications, such as helmets and car seats, cannot be taken as the Bircham Centre cannot vouch for their efficacy.

The charity shop thanks all customers for their consideration and for not putting the volunteers in the difficult position of having to refuse these items.

However, all other unwanted goods are always welcome, which helps to fund a significant proportion of the repairs the building requires.
