New café opens in Bawdeswell

The Horkey Kitchen, a new breakfast/brunch destination café, has opened in Bawdeswell in the former premises of Hamptons at the Barn, serving all-day breakfasts, light lunches, afternoon teas and homemade cakes.

The new café is owned by Lily Wade and George Wright who have years of experience in the hospitality industry and met while working at the King’s Arms in Reepham four years ago.

The Horkey Kitchen is located in Dereham Road, Bawdeswell, and is open from 9 am – 4 pm Tuesday to Sunday.

The word “horkey” was applied to the end-of-harvest feast and celebrations, in use from the 16th to the 19th centuries, especially in East Anglia.

A studio space is also available that can be hired exclusively for private functions, classes and workshops.
