Academy of St Thomas concert at Salle church

The Norwich-based Academy of St Thomas chamber orchestra returns to St Peter and St Paul, Salle, on Saturday 22 June at 7.30 pm for its annual midsummer concert.

After her performance of Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings in 2022, Anna Douglass is back to perform Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 2 and a short melodic Idyll for Horn and Strings by Glazunov.
 
She is a regular guest principal horn in orchestras around the country, including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
 
Conducted by Matthew Andrews the Salle church programme includes the Petite Symphonie for Wind by French composer Gounod and Schubert’s Symphony No. 6,  “The little C major”.
 
Set in the surroundings of this magnificent mid-Norfolk church, patrons can bring a picnic to enjoy prior to the concert.
 
Interval drinks will be served by the Friends of the Norfolk County Youth Orchestra, the charity that supports the youth orchestra and its players.
